After years of conducting research for museums, Bas now works as an independent consultant in heritage and culture. In his book KAIS, he tells the story of the unlikely rescue operation of the crew of an American bomber that crashed in the jungle of New Guinea in 1944. In 2019, Bas made the journey to the crash site himself.
